I often hear people catch their breath when they walk into my studio. They say that the colors I use captivate their emotions and memory. It has long been research how color adds energy to your creative thinking. To expand on this I have longed to harness color in my compositions and create a sense of place using color.
Recently I was asked if I had paintings with only black and white and sepia, no color. Well, not really was my thought. So I challenged myself to create some pieces using only those tones. What has transpired are some paintings that, to me, seem deep, dark and reflective of urban city life at night. The dark passages remind me of tunnels and undergrounds. They appear moody and pensive. What do you think?
