I received notification that I will be exhibiting in a solo show at Yavapai College in Prescott, Arizona next September 2017. It is an honor to be selected for a solo show. In preparation for this I have been researching the land area around Prescott and the Arizona terrain. In this research I have discovered a new word, Anthropocene. This word has embodied the idea that has been in my mind and art for a long time. I just discovered the word and the research behind it. The effect that humans have had on this earth have been going on for centuries, however, since the industrial revolution, human impact has been devastating to the land and to humans. Water, food, and land has been raped and mined for greed and profit. Melting ice caps and polluting waters are just a few obvious impacts that will change our lives in ways we cannot ignore. Through my work, I interpret the marks and scars man creates on this earth. Though visually appealing the horror is there imbedded in the geometric lines that are overlaid on the paintings. The flat work draws you in and you are hovering over it.The sculptural wall works symbolize the terrain coming into our space, pushing forward and demanding attention. Forms are made by reshaping canvas and showing the push and pull of the impact humans have on this planet.

I spend a lot of time looking at my work. Process is what I love about the work. Applying paint, pouring, scrapping, drawing with it, and tearing it up. The surface of decay that reveals history seems most engaging. I get lost sometimes. But, how freeing it is to be an artist. To create without being encumbered. How lucky I am. Just saw I was featured on Beautiful Decay blog. Happy to get recognition. Thank you.
Three of my paintings have been installed by the Emblar Gallery in the Miami Airport, American Airlines International spot. It will be on display for a year.
Pictures of the installation will be coming soon. Just signed up for 2 Art pins to find me. Here are the links...

The hours are 12-5 pm 808 N. La Brea Inglewood, 90302 I am in studio 2C See you there. We leave traces of ourselves everywhere we go. We can't help ourselves. We build and destroy layering over one society to impose another. Cave men marked their walls, graffiti artists make their mark too. One mark covered by another mark, Xed out of existence until time and weathering peels the layers to reveal the remains. Undiscovered places and people tell stories about who was there, what they did, and how they lived.
Nature always prevails. Whatever man builds, is destroyed by nature in a matter of minutes. Hurricanes, rains, fires, earthquakes and storms are just a few of the forces that are huge destroyers of what man makes. On the small scale, concrete sidewalks crack by the forces of nature daily. But man is just as powerful a destroyer. Our technotrash is filling up the world. What will that look like? It cannot be absorbed by the earth. What will our place on this earth? I have finally received my published version of the International Contemporary Artist book Volume VIII
you can see it here...http://www.incoartists.com/the_book.html I am on page 129. I was asked to put in some art work this Sunday for a Women in Architecture Conference. It is a one day pop up event in the corridor at the Helms Building in Culver City. I have 15 pieces to install by 7 AM and then take it down by 5 PM. Is it worth it? I think so. The people that will see it place art and design in all sorts of spaces. The corridor is huge and dwarfs my 3' x 5' paintings that seem to loom in my studio. It makes me want to paint larger and more expansive. I use gravity to help me paint the lines and wonder how I can get it to drip and run the way I want. I might need to find a studio assistant.! Yup! Next step!
Been busy getting work out to shows. One this coming weekend at the Brewery, titled "10" x 10". small works from the SCWCA organization. The following weekend I am in a show in Long Beach, small gallery Picture This. Also entering 3 pieces into the International Art Book. Whew! I need an assistant.
